Next up in my quilty-gift parade is my quilt for Miss B. Similar to the quilt for Miss T, I wanted something a bit more mature, but also a bit of fun. The pattern in the centre panel is Butterfly Effect from Amy Smart (aka Diary of a Quilter)’s book Fabulously Fast Quilts.

I love them all for different reasons, but I think this was my favourite colour-wise. Navys, teals, and purples just sing to me. I’d been hoarding my mini jelly rolls from V and Co.’s Simply Colorful II collection for quite a while, with this exact project in mind.

The inner border is a teal/aqua grunge from Basic Grey for Moda, and the outer border is a navy chevron (I’m sorry – I don’t remember the range!). It’s bound in the same grunge.
Originally my final border was going to be the navy blue hand-drawn floral from the V and Co. range, but I after adding it to the first side of the quilt, I felt it made the whole thing look very seventies – and while that was a bit fun, it really wasn’t what I was going for. I’m much happier with the chevrons… although, if you know me at all, you’d know that I really find it hard to beat a good chevron πŸ˜‰

The backing is a light blue suede flannel, and the quilting is a simple flower. Choosing the quilting for this one was quite tricky, because so much of the quilt was geometric, but a geometric quilt pattern kind of made it more masculine. The flowers made it a bit more feminine again.

Miss B got a bedroom make-over of sorts this year, and little did I realise, but my chosen colours matched her new room pretty well! I was a bit stoked with myself, and she seemed pretty happy with the quilt too!

Next up in my nine quilts by Christmas is the first of the boy quilts. I can’t wait to share!
