So, I did a big thing this week. I have taken a year off my “day job” (which was working as an OT). I did warn you something big was in the works! After weeks of angst-ing over whether my application would be approved, it’s finally done, and I’ve had my last day at work for the next 12 months.
The primary reason for the leave is that even though I really love my day job, being an OT is emotionally draining. So, I’m taking some time out for my own health – to recharge properly before my brain turns into a mushy puddle with exhaustion. Secondly, though, I’m excited to be using my brain in a different way for a little while.
So enter Tinker and Stitch as my little pet project! And things are kind of exploding here!
The Facebook page is finally live and active! We’ll be keeping you up to date on bits and pieces, and sharing pretty photos there. https://www.facebook.com/TinkerandStitchAustralia/
Speaking of pretty photos, my Instagram account is the go-to for regular photos of my current crafts! My beautiful husband is being amazingly patient with me while I get my head around this photography stuff 😉 but I’m having some fun – so go check it out! I’m @nicoleelisew
I’ve also started selling some little bits a pieces over at the Pink Orchid Café and Florist, in Parkes. Mostly little fabric earrings and some notebook with quilty covers, but I’m hoping to add more items in the near future.
You can find the Pink Orchid’s website here and their facebook page here! Alice and Jarryd run the Pink Orchid; Alice makes the most beautiful flower arrangements – they’re just divine! And Jarryd makes such delicious sweet treats. Make sure you check them out.
And finally, I’ve got some classes happening over at Marcelle’s Patchwork Cottage! Two classes for highschoolers: notebook covers (4th July) and tote bags (11th July).
And then there’s a patchwork class/excuse-to-sew for everyone! Remember that sneak preview picture of a quilt with the Labrador? Here’s the finished product! We will be sewing up April Rosenthal’s Positively Perfect Nap Quilt together. It’s a free pattern from the Moda Bakeshop. Mine is made using V & Co.’s Spectrum fabric.
This quilt is seriously good for beginners, so if you’ve ever thought about giving patchwork a go – I highly recommend this class! We’ll be running it on 29th July, 2017.
The details for all the classes are on the blog at Marcelle’s web page and on her Facebook page. Over the next little while I will keep helping Marcelle out on her blog, focusing on all the shop-related fun, there, and this blog will be more centred on my personal crafty creations.
So as you can see, life is turning slightly upside-down in our little household! But I’m feeling incredibly blessed to have this opportunity to try something different for a while! I hope you’ll all join me on this adventure. See you soon!
